Taylor Gloeckner is our September of the Month, and has been one of our most consistent members since he joined 1.5 years ago, so this title is a long time coming. He is also a very easy guy to get along with and has a good sense of humour. His last answer down below is a goodie! Speaking of which check out our Q & A with him.
Q:How long have you been boxing and what got you started in this sport?
A: I’ve been boxing consistently for about a year and a half now. Prior to that I was doing Muay Thai for a few months up until covid hit, and my favourite part of the training was the boxing work.
Q: Do you have any specific goals you’re working towards in boxing?
A: My main goal is to keep leveling up my boxing skill wise, but also to just keep in good shape generally.
Q: How do you stay consistent and motivated with your practice?
A: I bring my equipment bag with me so that I can typically go to the gym right after work to maintain consistency. When I’m not feeling motivated I’ll watch some boxing videos to get the urge going again.
Q: What is your favourite thing about the community/teaching environment at Contenders?
A: Everyone is so friendly and nice. It’s a very chill easy going place.
Q: What is your favourite class to take?
A: Fundamentals is what I primarily do, but I’ve been mixing in a few training camp classes the last couple weeks which has been fun!
Q: Besides boxing, what else do you like to do?
A: I play hockey, hang with some friends and watch sports. Go see a comedy show. It’s the middle of NFL season now also so lots of time on the couch watching that.
Q: …And lastly, tell us something people would be surprised to learn about you?
A: Well Kevin would be surprised to learn that my name is actually Taylor. Not Trevor or Tyler. Dude never learns.
