October 2023 – Kriti Gupta
Kriti Gupta has only been here a short time but has made a mark at our club. From befriending members and fostering the club community to getting involved with squash she utilizes all our facilities. We love that Kriti’s can do attitude and willingness to try new things without reservation. Check out our Q&A with her below.
Q: What made you want to start boxing?
A: As a kid I have always wanted to learn boxing. I come from a very small city in India and none of the boxing gyms catered to Women.
Q: What is your athletic history like?
A: I wouldn’t count myself as an athlete. I did play cricket with my brothers once in a while and did some skating.
Q: If you were to give advice to someone interested in joining boxing, what would you say?
A: Just join (don’t think twice) and it is more fun than you can imagine.
Q: How do you stay motivated with your practice?
A: Boxing at Contenders is motivation enough. Don’t need extra.
Q: What do you want to happen next in your boxing journey, is there a goal you’re working towards?
A: I want to better my technique and learn sparring.
Q: And what are your favourite things about being a part of the Contenders community?
A: The people and the feeling of belonging.
Q: Now, outside of the boxing studio and squash courts where you’ll be putting Kevin in his place, what does an average day for Kriti look like?
A: Wake up super early, watch netflix, work on my plan for world domination, diabolically laugh while fantaizing about such plans, work more, go for a walk, research restaurants and coffee, read a book.
Q: …And lastly, tell us something people would be surprised to learn about you?
A: Some things should be left as a surprise (Honestly can’t think of anything)
